West Virginia ranked second slowest internet in nation, report – WOAY News

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – A new report by HighSpeedInternet.com found that West Virginia has the second slowest average internet speed in the country.

It’s the same rank that West Virginia got last year. The median download speed throughout the state is 45.37 mega bits per second.

The median improved this year by only .40 megabits.

Alaska is the only state with slower internet in the entire country.

The ranking comes as state and national elected officials are working to expand broadband internet access throughout the state.

Earlier this year, the federal government allocated over a billion dollars to improve internet coverage throughout the state.
