Garmin has released Public Beta version 8.25 for the Venu 3 and Venu 3s smartwatches. This is only the second update for the new wearable series, which launched earlier in 2023. Compared to the last software, version 8.23, there appears to be only one change: the addition of GCM Translations 2.13.
The change log for Beta v.8.25 also lists the new features included with the older software for the Venu 3 and Venu 3s. These are new team sports and racket sports activities, a Nap glance and the Workout app accessible via the Activities list. Wrist-based Run Power is now supported and wrist-based Running Dynamics are viewable in Garmin Connect. Plus, Red Shift control allows you to make the display red, orange or green to help preserve your night vision. A notable omission in the change log is the skin temperature data used for sleep tracking in the Garmin Connect app; this has also been removed from the 8.23 change log, suggesting that the feature has been rolled back.
The update will be automatically delivered to smartwatches via Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM), and the new software will be checked for daily. You can also manually search for version 8.25 by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update. Garmin asks that users log any issues in the Bug Reports section of the forum. Several issues, such as problems with the voice assistant, images with smart notifications and the nap tracking feature, have been logged so far and are listed as “Under Review” by the company. If you own a Venu 3 or Venu 3s smartwatch, you can sign up for the Beta Program at Garmin Connect.
